SHAH ALAM: Three teenagers – S. Linggeswaran, Muhammad Adam Mohd Rais and Wan Muhammad Iqmal Wan Nizam – beat more than 700 players to win a six-day training stint with German League champions Bayern Munich.
The trio will attend the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) at Bayern from Aug 20-26.
The three 16-year-olds were selected after a two-day trial at the SUK Field in Shah Alam on Sunday.
“My dream finally came true after failing to finish among the top three last year. I worked my socks off to improve and I’m glad I’m going to Munich this time,” said an ecstatic Linggeswaran.
Iqmal was also elated. “I can’t wait to see my idol – Bayern skipper Philipp Lahm,” said the pint-sized midfielder.
Adam said he was surprised to be picked as one the winners.
“I just participated for fun and was not really prepared for the trials,” he added.
Seven other players - N. Kumaravel, V. Nesathasan, Afiq Asnawi, Wong Yi Fei, Amirul Aiman Mohd Rosni, Kamal Ashari, Wan Affandi Wan Mohd Faizul, Mohd Najmi and Alif Emir - were selected to attend the AJFC Asia in Bali from Aug 1-4.
