KUALA LUMPUR: Liew Daren has revenge on his mind when he begins his men’s singles campaign in the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold badminton championships in Kuching on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old Daren, who is unseeded, is drawn to meet Japan’s Takuma Ueda in the first round. The Malaysian still remembers his painful loss to Takuma in the deciding tie in the final of the Thomas Cup in New Delhi last May. Malaysia lost 2-3 and failed to wrest back the Cup they last won in 1992.
