Show due respect to symbol of our nation

I AM a 61-year-old woman who was waiting at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, Alor Setar recently to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur.

It was a pretty windy day as it had just stopped raining. While the wind was gusting, a Malaysian flag hanging at the entrance of the airport flew off and fell to the ground. I sat there watching and thinking that someone would surely go and pick it up – maybe a security guard, the receptionist or any one of the passersby. Minutes passed and no one bothered to pick it up. So many people just walked past the flag, either too busy to pick it up or just too engaged on their smart phones to even notice it.
