Queries on zoo’s breeding plans


SAHABAT Alam Malaysia (SAM) is alarmed and concerned about a news report that the management of Malacca Zoo is to embark on the breeding of endangered species, “Breed-share boost for endangered animals at Malacca Zoo” (The Star, July 8).

The move by Malacca Zoo needs serious questioning. On the surface, it may appear that breeding animals may circumvent the “need” to import them from other countries, but this may not turn out to be the case if it is pursued.
