Deputy Speaker confirms no actual scissors served, just usual salad

PETALING JAYA: In a humourous Facebook posting, a Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker confirmed that no stationery was served to parliament officers as appetisers for dinner.

The public can rest assured that the officers who run the nation's legislative body had dined on safe Caesar salad sans-scissors.

"An image has gone viral on social media where "scissors salad" was served during a dinner event in Parliament. I happened to attend the event and can confirm that there were no actual scissors in the salad, just a normal "Caesar salad"," Datuk Ronald Kiandee clarified on Wednesday.

"Although this is an amusing mistake by the caterer, but as an important institution, parliament staff must be more careful so that such a mistake would not happen again. Hmm... scissors salad!" he said.

The image of the menu went viral on WhatsApp and other messaging media this week. Monday's dinner was between parliament officers and Speaker of the House Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
