Cops record statement from The Star journalist

PETALING JAYA: Police have taken a statement from The Star journalist over a news report on the alleged transfer of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor.

The police arrived at Menara Star at about 2pm on Monday to record Nicholas Cheng's statement.

Cheng is represented by lawyer Amer Hamzah Arshad.

A team of officers, both from the police and Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), took a computer to assist in their investigations.

The officers are investigating a report in a news portal over DPP Ahmad Shazalee Abdul Khairi's alleged transfer out of the MACC special operations division.

The Star carried a couple of stories on the alleged transfer.

On Nov 4, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri clarified in Parliament that Shazalee was transferred internally but remained under the MACC.
