KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian High Commission lost RM25,000 in cash and proceeds to four men armed with a pistol and a machete here on Thursday.
In the 11am incident, the accounts officer and head of security of the High Commission were waiting with the money for the driver in front of the lobby of Menara 1Mont Kiara when they were approached by four men on two motorcycles.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said a struggle ensued between the men and the two victims but the perpetrators managed to escape with the RM25,000 cash.
He said the closed-circuit camera (CCTV) at the scene showed the suspects wearing full-faced helmets, t-shirt, jeans, black jackets.
The registration numbers of the motorcycles could not be ascertained, he said.
He said it was a daily routine for the High Commission to deposit the cash in a bank. - Bernama
