Syabas: Unscheduled water disruption for parts of Klang Valley

PETALING JAYA: Unscheduled water disruption is likely to occur in Wilayah Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat dan Sepang after water supply to the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant, which services these areas, showed contamination above permissible levels.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), in a statement, said that the water supply level was reduced beginning 8am Sunday as ammonia and manganese levels in Sungai Selangor went above the recommended level.

"The water treatment plant operators are still looking for the source of the pollution, and as such it is still unclear when the issue will be resolved," the statement said.

A total of 39 areas in the Petaling district, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, and Sepang are expected to be affected by the disruption.

Syabas will be providing assistance during emergencies by sending water lorries and static water tanks.

"Those affected are advised to use water sparingly until normal water supply resumes," the statement said.

Consumers are advised to check for the latest updates on the disruption on Syabas' Twitter and Facebook accounts, or via the MySyabas app on Apple  or Android devices.
