KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police received 12 reports on the controversial Sabah secession issue.
Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said police have set up a task force with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to monitor the situation and activities that could potentially threaten national security.
"Sabah police have also prepared plans for any eventuality at rallies or processions in conjunction with Malaysia Day on Sept 16," he told reporters.
He reminded those who wished to organise rallies and processions to first obtain a permit from the police.
Earlier, Jalaluddin said the state's crime index between January and August this year dropped to 3,584 cases from 3,943 last year.
He said between January and August this year, 1,698 (47.38%) of reported cases were solved, compared to 1,730 cases (43.88%) in the same period last year, a decrease of 3.5%.
House break-in cases also dropped by 243 cases, from 1,173 last year to 930 this year between January and August, a decrease of 20.72%.
Street crime recorded 275 cases between January and August last year, compared to 263 in the same period this year, a decrease of 12 cases or 4.36%, he said. - Bernama
