Aviation photography enthusiast GUNNER KULLENBERG captured a picture of the aircraft on Oct 12, 2013 as it was taking off from the Los Angeles airport in the United States.
PETALING JAYA: Aviation photography enthusiasts from around the world have contributed their images of 9M-MR0, the aircraft used for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, for a web-based tribute.
Titled 'Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 The Airliner That Travelled The Globe - A tribute as told through aviation photographers across the world', the website pictures the plane in various airports globally during the time it was in service.
Michael Raisch, the founder of Raisch Studios, a web-based company, said "this piece has been produced as a non-profit tribute to all of the lives who are missing and those who remain forever changed by this tragic event".
Malaysian photographer Norman Md Yusof submitted two photographs from June 9, 2009 and Jan 30,2014 and shared his thoughts on the incident including the emotional ups and downs faced by those affected by it.
Norman wrote that he captured the first image at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when he was on an assignment for an aviation agency.
"I'm glad that there are people out there has deep feelings to what happened to MH370, as it has impacted me much," he was quoted as saying.
Norman explained that he took the first one at KLIA when he was on an assignment for an aviation agency.
"The B777 aircraft has this unique and very elegant entrance style to the runway for lining up, thus I had several shots of 9M-MRO that day lining up for take off from runway 32R.
"I'll say a little prayer in my heart that they'll find it soon and find out what actually happened.
"I pray for the souls on board, when I look at my photographs of 9M-MRO," he said.
Ignatius 'Iggy' Kwee, a Malaysian living in Australia, also shared a picture of the plane he took on Aug 10, 2010 in Perth, Australia, saying that he was shocked by the disappearance, but was glad that he had a photo of the plane.
Kwee first found out about the incident through a 'WhatsApp' aviation enthusiasts' group message.
"I just could not believe my eyes and ears that a Malaysian plane, furthermore a triple seven, was missing," he said.
"Triple seven is a joy to fly in. It's graceful with its huge twin engines, robust in the air and beautiful to photograph in action with all the flaps down," he wrote.
Another contributor, Swiss national Hansueli Krapf, shared close-up pictures of 9M-MRO captured on June 28, 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
"The picture of 9M-MRO I took while waiting for my flight back to Switzerland at Johannesburg airport in South Africa," he explained.
He noted that it was not the only plane he photographed that ended in tragic circumstances.
"The plane was one out of at least four aircraft I have spotted which crashed.
"One of the most famous one was Korean Airlines 007, which was shot down by the Soviet Air Force over Sakhalin Island. I photographed that one in Honolulu in 1981," he said.
Gunner Kullenberg captured a picture of the plane on Oct 12, 2013 as it was taking off from Los Angeles in California, United States.
He noted that it "was a beautiful fall day here in Southern California", but expressed hope the aircraft would be found soon.
"Now there are only a day or two left before the pings from the black boxes go silent.
"For the sake of friends and relatives of those on board, I hope the truth about the aircraft's fate is uncovered soon," he was quoted as saying.
