Illegal activity: The men were arrested for possessing fake guns during their shooting game.
SEGAMAT: A group of men playing a mock battle game with fake M16 and AK47 guns at an oil palm estate here ended up being rounded up in a real police raid.
Segamat OCPD Supt Mohd Kamil Sukarmi said the 18 men, all of whom were dressed in camouflage attire, were arrested for illegally possessing fake guns during the 2.15pm raid at the Chee Leong oil palm plantation in Jementah here on Sunday.
“We rushed to the plantation after being alerted by a member of the public who heard gunshots from the plantation.
“When we raided the place, the group were playing ‘shooting’ games with 14 fake guns operated by battery and gas,” he said.
It is against the law to possess fake guns which look very similar to real firearms.
“Police also seized 20 plastic magazines and other accessories,” he said, adding that the fake bullets could, however, cause serious injuries if shot at close range.
Four of the men were allowed bail as they were only watching the game while the rest had been put under remand.
