UTM’s Smart Mind Technology to help students concentrate better

JOHOR BARU: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has discovered a new and effective way to enable students to concentrate better while studying by stimulating the brain using sound waves.

The research carried out by Prof Dr Eko Supriyanto from UTM's Biosciences and Medical Engineering Faculty helps to activate the potentials of the conscious and subconscious mind.

"We tailor-made the sound waves to suit and calm the minds of students into a sponge-like state so that information can be absorbed easily," he said at a press conference here on Monday.

The product, Smart Mind Technology, contains two types of music embedded into a pair of earphones where the student is to listen to the music while studying, up to a maximum of two hours, for each session.

"We have recently marketed the product and will meet the Education Ministry so that students can use the product to help them study better," he added.
