Hotel operator giving family the runaround

ALOR SETAR: The hotel operator has yet to offer the grieving family of Tan Ming Shen an explanation since the freak accident occurred at the hotel.

Ming Shen’s aunt, who declined to be named, said the hotel management met the family from Pendang on Saturday afternoon but kept mum about the incident with the sink.

“A few people from the hotel came and said they would come again that night to meet with the parents but they did not show up. We are still waiting to hear from them,” she said.

The aunt said the family would wait for the hotel’s explanation before deciding on what to do next.

She said Ming Shen’s body had been sent back to the family’s house in Taman Dahlia and he would be cremated today.

When contacted, the hotel management declined to comment.

On Friday, Ming Shen and his friends watched a badminton tournament at a sports centre in Tandop. They later checked into the hotel at about 8.15pm before the incident occurred at 12.50am.

The 14-year-old was washing his hands in the bathroom when the sink broke and was said to have hit him.

Kota Setar OCPD Assist Comm Adzaman Mohd Jan said that the post-mortem report showed that Ming Shen died of excessive bleeding due to vascular injury to the left thigh. He said police had classified the case as sudden death.
