Winsome Wincci wins 'em over

THE 24th annual Independent Critics List of 100 Most Beautiful Faces has included Malaysian beauty queen Soo Wincci (pic).

Soo, making a successful foray as an international artiste, was in 91st position, along with other beauties in the list, such as Anna Koncakovskaya (Russia), Marcela Guirado (Mexico), Mehgan Markle (United States) and Gabriella Wilde (Britain). The top spot went to French actress Marion Cotillard.

Soo, who was in Taiwan when the news broke, told Sinar Harian she was pleasantly surprised to be in the list.

“It really surprised me, and I hope this would bring me closer to fulfilling my dream to be in Hollywood,” she said.

Soo is currently preparing her second international album.

Two songs from her first album Happiness are in the hit charts of Taiwan and Canada.

One of the songs, Not Brave, is the theme song of a Taiwanese drama series.

“I’ll focus more on my international release after Chinese New Year,” she said.

> A primary school teacher was shocked to see a vulture in his home compound in Parit Keroma, near Muar, Harian Metro reported.

Remy Azman Abdul Rashid, 40, first thought it was a wild dog that had strayed into his compound and tried to shoo it away. However, he was stunned to see the creature flying away.

“On watching it closely, I realised it was a vulture, which is a rare sight. My family and I tried to capture it but it turned aggressive,” said Remy, relating the 1.15pm incident on Wednesday.

Not wanting any untoward incident to happen, he alerted the Civil Defence Department.

The department’s Muar operations head Mohd Fadli Mohd Juki said his officers took about 10 minutes to catch the bird, which was perched on a tree behind the house.
