State expects to earn RM7.8bil from timber industry this year

SIBU: Sarawak is expecting to record an increase in net earnings from its timber industry of RM7.8bil this year compared to RM7,454bil in 2012.

Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) general manager Datuk Sarudu Hoklai, who was speaking at STIDC Central Zone’s 40th anniversary do on Tuesday, said earnings from the industry had in the last three years been on an upward trend.
