Inculcating the habit of reading

LOCAL celebrities have voiced out that the habit of reading should be inculcated while a person is young, as that is when one is best able to absorb information and knowledge to spark creativity and develop cognitive skills.

Stars such as Joanna Bessey, Belinda Chee, Deborah Henry, Colin Kirton, Sheahnee Iman Lee, Nazrudin Rahman, Wardina Safiyyah, Jojo Struys, Azura Zainal, Angel Wong and Owen Yap are among the Scholastic Reading Champions who support READ2013, a part of Scholastic’s global literacy campaign that seeks to raise awareness in the importance of recreational reading amongst partners, educators, business leaders, publishers, booksellers, librarians, non-profits, parents, caregivers, and students to work together to expand and support children’s reading and literacy throughout the world.
