Kedah Barisan slams the brakes on Mat Sabu

ALOR SETAR: PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu has been advised to watch his mouth when campaigning.

Kedah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said it was uncouth of Mohamad, or better known as Mat Sabu, to quip that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would come running for a taxi permit if Pakatan Rakyat should take Putrajaya.

“He should watch his mouth and not speak in such a manner about the elder statesman,” he said yesterday.

Mat Sabu, in a ceramah on Saturday night here, reportedly told Dr Mahathir to drive his own taxi if he wished to apply for a taxi permit that would be given out should Pakatan win the 13th general election.

Ahmad Bashah reminded Mat Sabu that he had told voters that he would not make personal attacks in his campaign.

“He said one thing but did another. How can the voters put their trust in a leader like that?” he asked.

Meanwhile, several taxi drivers also said that Mat Sabu should not have stooped so low just to gain some political mileage.

They said Dr Mahathir is a national figure who has contributed a lot to the country’s development.

“He should not have joked about the person who has brought so much development to the country,” said taxi driver Omar Hassan, 56.
