Illustrated Oscar dresses since 1929

Check out all the gowns worn by best actress Oscar winners.

An infographic of illustrated dresses worn by every best actress Oscar winner since 1929 has gone viral after being published this week.

The piece was updated to include the stunning Armani Prive gown worn by Cate Blanchett as she sashayed up the steps to receive her award for her role in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine on the weekend, and has since been viewed in over 170 countries on over 250 websites.

Some of the gorgeous designs portrayed include the silver Irene Gibbons design worn by Vivien Leigh in 1940, Grace Kelly’s 1955 mint Edith Head creation and Elizabeth Taylor’s 1961 Christian Dior masterpiece.

The brainchild of marketing agency MediaRunDigital, the infographic deftly demonstrates how styles have changed over the decades, moving from classically elegant to extravagant designs.

“We wanted to do something to explore the fashion aspect of the Oscars and thought it would be great to have a poster that displays as many of the dresses as possible,” explains Paul North, Head of Content and Strategy at MediaRunDigital.

There are plans to turn the piece into a printed poster to go on sale soon. Potential designs featuring nominees or winners from other Academy Awards categories could also be in the pipeline. Watch this space for your Oscar fashion fix! — AFP Relaxnews
