A HOTEL near New Delhi designed after a mirrored jewellery box has been named the leading luxury hotel in Asia at an event known as the Oscars of the travel industry.
At the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia, which took place in Dubai this week, travel agents and experts from around the world voted The Oberoi Gurgaon Asia’s leading luxury hotel over other landmark properties such as The Peninsula Hong Kong, the Four Seasons Shanghai, and Raffles Singapore among others.
Designed to evoke “height, light and space”, one of the signature features is landscape windows to maximise natural light and offer guests views of the property’s Olympic-sized reflection pool and landscaped gardens.
Rooms come with personalised butlers, while the hotel boasts a cigar lounge and a fleet of BMWs that can be used for chauffeur services.
Not far off, the Trident Gurgaon was named Asia’s leading hotel also for its landscaped gardens, courtyards, reflection pools and fountains.
Taking the title of Asia’s leading carrier was Malaysia Airlines, while Air New Zealand took the top spot for Australasia.
