PETALING JAYA: United Overseas Bank (M) Bhd (UOB Malaysia) has launched a new credit card, UOB PRVI Miles, especially for customers who travel a lot.
UOB Malaysia managing director and country head of personal financial services Annie Tan said the launch of the UOB PRVI Miles card was timely.
She said that it met the increased demand for intra-regional spending among its cardmembers.
In the first six months of 2015, UOB Malaysia cardmembers spent about RM111mil during their travels in South-East Asia.
This represents an increase of 20% over the same period in 2014.
Among the countries in the region, the year-on-year growth spend was the highest in Thailand at 71%.
Its cardmembers spent 13% more in Singapore than they did the year before.
During their travels in the region, cardmembers spent the most on retail shopping, taking up 20% of their total card spend, followed by 15% on hotel accommodation and 5% on dining.
Following that, UOB Malaysia has introduced travel privileges across South-East Asia for its customers.
These included discounts at Pan Pacific Hotel Group properties, dining benefits and special offers at retail outlets in the region.
On top of that, cardholders also get to enjoy privileges for spending in Malaysia.
