KLCI closes Thursday weaker


KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI closed Thursday more than two points down on profit taking after its recent gains, as investors' concerns were shifted towards China's factory output decline, which hit a six-month low.

At Bursa Malaysia, MISC fell 24 sen to RM7.24, KLK 64 sen to RM22.36 and PetDag 36 sen to RM18.34.

BAT fell 42 sen to RM67.58 and Allianz 28 sen to RM12.02.

Gainers were MEGB, up 15.5 sen to 74 sen.

Maxis rose 23 sen to RM7.12 and Tenaga 24 sen to RM13.98.

Carlsberg rose 32 sen to RM10.82 and F&N 32 sen to RM16.38.

Genting rose 23 sen to RM9.60.

HLFG rose 20 sen to RM18.18.

Among key regional markets:

Nikkei 225 rose 0.07% to 17,300.86

Hong Kong Hang Seng Index fell 0.1% to 23,349.64

Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index rose 0.07% to 2,452.66

Taiwan Stock Exchange Weighted Index rose 1.29% to 9,078.87

Korea Stock Exchange KOSPI Index fell 0.45% to 1,958.04

Straits Times Index STI fell 0.57% to 3,315.60

Crude oil rose seven cents to US$74.65 and Brent four cents to US$78.14.

Spot gold rose US$5.12 to US$1,187.80.
