Obsidian Entertainment has announced a new science fiction role-playing game that is set to be released late next year.

The Outer Worlds looks like it could be Fallout in space: Players find themselves in a colony at the edge of the known universe. The goal: uncover a sinister conspiracy and stand up to competing, power-hungry companies.

The first scenes that have been released in the trailer seem to promise similar ideas presented in other Obsidian games like Fallout: New Vegas or Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 2, such as dialogue-driven and action-heavy role-playing, towns reminiscent of the wild west, friendly and unfriendly robots as well as very unfriendly creatures that are out to get you.

The Outer Worlds will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. – dpa
