Highly popular: Its broadly appealing heroine, unique cast of characters, and novel locations helped make it an enduring favourite.

Released in 2003, approachable and engaging adventure Beyond Good and Evil has gained cult status in the years since.

Its broadly appealing heroine, unique cast of characters, and novel locations helped make it an enduring favourite and fans have been waiting since then for a promised sequel.

Now it seems that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is coming to Nintendo's Switch with a year-long exclusivity deal in place, according to sources speaking with reliable leak reporter Laura Kate Dale.

The game will release for Nintendo Switch first before arriving on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, Dale said, before suggesting that BGE2 would be teased at the end of a Jan13 Japanese event at which final details for the Switch's worldwide launch are to be confirmed.

Beyond Good and Evil publisher Ubisoft is known for working with console manufacturers to establish early footholds on new machines. Its Just Dance franchise proved particularly successful on the Nintendo Wii.

Around 20 titles have been officially confirmed for the Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildJust Dance 2017, a Pokémon game, fellow action adventure Yooka-Laylee, and popular farming village simulation Stardew Valley. —  AFP Relaxnews
