PlayStation VR to launch in Malaysia on Oct 13

Coming soon: The PS VR and PlayStation Camera bundle will be available in Malaysia at a suggested price of RM2,029.

KUALA LUMPUR: VR fans, rejoice: Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Ltd (SIES) announced today that the PS VR will be available locally from Oct 13.

Less gratifying is the price – a whopping RM1,849. For the uninitiated, that's costlier than the PlayStation 4 console – currently listed at a recommended retail price of RM1,799  which you need in order for the VR headset to work.

If you don't already own a PlayStation Camera – another necessary component for the PS VR experience – SIES says the PS VR and PlayStation Camera bundle will also be available in Malaysia at a suggested price of RM2,029.

Games-wise, more than 60 PS VR software titles have been confirmed for launch in Asia, including 13 titles developed by local developers such as Mortal Blitz VR from Korea, Stifled from Singapore, and O! My Genesis from Taiwan.

“Since we unveiled PS VR, we’ve received a tremendous response from gamers and developers,” said Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia deputy president Hiroyuki Oda.

“We want to thank gamers in Asia for their patience and continued support to PS VR. We will bring the best gaming experience that is only possible with PS VR,” he added.

Customers can pre-order both the PS VR as well as the PS VR and PS Camera bundle at selected Sony Stores and authorised dealers from July 30.
