Smartphone maker HTC has just launched its latest model, the HTC 10.
As expected from a flagship device, the HTC 10 has all the high-end specifications you’d expect – a metal unibody with chamfered edges, Android 6.0, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 32GB storage, 4GB RAM and 5.2in (2,560 X 1,440 pixels) “Super LCD” screen.
The rear camera is 12 megapixels with an f/1.8 aperture and laser autofocus, and is capable of capturing 4K video.
The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is 5 megapixels but also comes with an f/1.8 aperture.
One of the things that HTC touts with this phone is that it comes with less bloatware. Instead of having a bunch of Google and HTC apps that do the same thing, the company has opted for the Google version where available and kept third-party apps to a minimum.
It also supports the Hi-Res audio standard and has a built-in 25-bit digital to analogue converter with a high performance amplifier for better sound output.
While the built-in BoomSound-branded speakers are also engineered to sound better, it’s the bundled Hi-Res Audio certified earphones that will probably do justice to your music files.
The HTC 10 is available now for RM2,799 and comes in two colours – Carbon Grey and Topaz Gold.
Meanwhile HTC is also planning to launch the Vive VR headset in October.
Although no price has yet been set for the device, the Vive retails for US$799 (RM3,100) in the United States.
According to Cheong Wah Tong, HTC Malaysia country manager, the company is working with a local telco to get demo units to be shown off at the telco’s store.
Cheong declined to reveal the name of the telco as the details have yet to be finalised.
