KUALA LUMPUR: David Ferrer finally came good at the Malaysian Open, beating Spanish compatriot Feliciano Lopez to emerge as champion for the first time.

Playing for the fifth time in Malaysia, world No. 8 Ferrer beat Lopez 7-5, 7-5 in the final at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
