LANGKAWI: The Millenium Racing team capitalised on the misfortune of defending champions Oi! to take a slender overall lead in the 14th Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) 2016 racing class competition.
Australia’s Oi!, winners here in 2014 and last year, had their third placing in Tuesday’s Race 2 chalked off following a protest by Malaysia’s Team Ulumulu. Ulumulu skipper Jeremy Koo claimed that Oi! had failed to keep clear at a windward mark, forcing the Malaysian yacht to take avoidance measures to prevent a collision. The race jury ruled in favour of Ulumulu and disqualified Oi! from Race 2.
