Man escapes after his luxury car catches fire on Bera-Mayam road


Preliminary investigation by police suggest that a short circuit caused the fire.

BERA: A 39-year-old man experienced a harrowing moment when his luxury car caught fire by the roadside at Kilometer 10 Jalan Bera-Mayam on Sunday (Dec 22).

Bera District Police Chief, Superintendent Zulkiflee Nazir, said the incident occurred around 12.45am when the driver noticed a burning smell coming through the air conditioner.

He immediately pulled over to the roadside and opened the bonnet, discovering flames.

"The fire quickly spread throughout the car. The victim managed to seek help from passing motorists before contacting the fire department," he he told Sinar Harian.

Preliminary investigations suggest the possibility of a short circuit in the car causing the fire.

"The estimated loss is yet to be determined, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation," he added.
