Cops arrest 65-year-old suspected illegal lottery operator


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man in Taman Sentul Jaya believed to be part of an illegal lottery syndicate here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy Chinniah said they raided a restaurant there following a tip off at around 6pm on Wednesday (Nov 14).

"We arrested the 65-year-old suspect during the raid.

"Checks on him revealed several pieces of paper with numbers written on them believed to be illegal lottery numbers.

"We seized RM1,145 as well as two mobile phones from the suspect," he said adding that the suspect has been remanded for further action.

ACP Shanmugamoorthy said the case was being investigated under section 4A(a) of The Common Gambling Houses Act.

He also urged anyone with information on such activities to contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
