PETALING JAYA: An Umno leader from Sabah has come out to support Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement that the Federal Government has agreed to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak "as equal partners" with Peninsular Malaysia, in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, the former Foreign Minister and Umno Member of Parliament for Kimanis, said he welcomes Dr Mahathir's statement as it is "the basis of the establishment of this country 55 years ago."
