Motorcycle workshop in Butterworth razed in morning fire

BUTTERWORTH: A motorcycle workshop in Jalan Bagan Luar here was totally destroyed when a fire broke out on the ground floor of the shophouse.

Firemen were dispatched to the scene after they received a call at 8.07am on Monday (Aug 6).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they managed to put out the fire at 8.31am and there were no casualties.

The fire left a thick smoke billowing into the air, as the workshop was believed to have stored rubber and petroleum products. Neighbouring shop owners were also seen trying to salvage their belongings at the height of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
