Metal works factory partially damaged in fire

KUALA LUMPUR: A metal works factory was partially damaged in a fire near 6½ Mile along Jalan Puchong here.

Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Jalailudin Abd Mubin said they received a distress call about the incident at around 2.38pm on Wednesday.

"We dispatched two fire engines, a water tanker and 23 firemen to the scene.

"When they arrived at the factory about 12 minutes later, the fire had already spread," he said when contacted on Wednesday.

He added that the factory was located next to a petrol station which meant that the fire had to be brought under control swiftly.

"We managed to bring the fire under control by about 3.20pm and fully extinguished the blaze at 4.18pm.

"Investigations are underway to determine the damage and cause of the fire," he said, adding that no one was hurt in the fire.

He said the fire destroyed at least 40% of the factory.
