Tourist bus catches fire, passengers escape injury


KOTA KINABALU: Forty people, mainly tourists, escaped unscathed when their bus caught fire along the Tamparuli-Ranau road near here at 7.30pm on Sunday.

The tourists of unknown nationalities were not disclosed, were immediately evacuated from the vehicle by the driver when the engine started to emit smoke.

A Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman said that the bus was completely destroyed but no injuries were reported.

It took firemen about an hour to completely put out the fire.

It is learned that the tourists were on their way from Kundasang to the state capital when the fire broke out along the road that cuts through the Crocker Range.
