Two siblings drown in retention pond near Bahau

SEREMBAN - Two siblings drowned after they fell into a 1.8m deep retention pond at Kg Padang Lalang near Bahau.

State Fire and Rescue Department chief Norazam Khamis said his men rushed to the scene around 6pm and managed to pull out the remains of 10-year-old Ainul Batrisyah Mohd Nasir within 15 minutes.

They found the body of her six-year-old brother Muhammad Solehudin five minutes later.

Paramedics who were present declared them dead at 7.10pm.

It is learnt that the siblings had been fishing near the pond before tragedy struck.

"They might have slipped and fallen into the pond," he said adding that the pond was located about 50m from their home.

Their remains were taken to the Jempol Hospital for a post mortem.
