GEORGE TOWN: The bodies of two victims are believed to have been recovered from the landslide in Tanjung Bungah, Penang,

Although authorities have yet to release updates on the disaster, pictures on social media reveal two white body bags at the construction site.

Up to 20 people are feared to have been buried in the landslide.

It had not rained in Penang for several days but there were isolated light showers around the island early this morning.

Meanwhile, 40 to 50 firemen and Civil Defence personnel were seen scaling the mounds of laterite soil looking for those believed to be buried below.

The rescue work was hindered by pools of water around the construction site.

The landslide occurred near Lorong Lembah Permai 3 in Tanjung Bungah at about 8.30am Saturday.
