Zamihan arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: Muslim preacher Zamihan Mat Zin has been arrested in connection with investigations for sedition.

Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said police arrested Zamihan at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.

"I can confirm that he was arrested at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.

"We will apply to remand him first thing tomorrow (Thursday) morning," he said.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said Zamihan was being investigated under the Sedition Act.

A video clip which has gone viral online depicts Zamihan allegedly saying it was wrong of Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to prohibit a Muslim-only laundrette from operating in the state.

In the same video, Zamihan labelled Chinese people as being "unhygienic".

In a statement on Wednesday, Zamihan said he would take legal action against news portals if they do not retract and apologise for their articles over the video, claiming he never mentioned the name of the Johor Sultan and neither did he use any abusive or seditious words.
