GEORGE TOWN: A woman was bruised and lost two teeth after being knocked down by a motorbike believed to have run a red light at a pedestrian crossing in Sungai Nibong here.
The impact saw the victim being flung a few metres and hitting the ground face down, with the motorcyclist speeding off.
She managed to pick herself up and walk to safety in the hit-and-run accident at 6.50pm Monday.
The 42-year-old woman, an accountant who declined to be named, lodged a police report on the same day.
A 29-second video clip showing the incident has since gone viral.
On April 6, Foo Swee Wah, 58, was killed in a similar hit-and-run accident at a pedestrian crossing in Pulau Tikus in Penang.
Police later caught the suspect and Nazri Che Lah, 44, was charged on April 10 with recklessly riding a motorcycle, resulting in Foo's death.
The offence under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 carries a jail term of between two and 10 years, a maximum fine of RM20,000 and suspension of the person's driving licence.
