MAS flight turns back to London due to medical emergency

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH3 en-route to Kuala Lumpur has turned back to London due to a medical emergency.

According to a statement by MAS, the aircraft was flying over Germany on Friday when the captain was informed of the medical situation involving a passenger.

MH3 was three hours into the flight when the pilot made the decision to turn back to London's Heathrow Airport for medical assistance.

"MH3 has landed safely and a team of paramedics is on standby to attend to the affected passenger upon arrival," said the airline.

According to a passenger on MH3, the Airbus 380 landed in Heathrow at 8.10pm Malaysian time.

MAS said they will advise passengers of the new departure time for MH3.
