Vacation consultant charged with murder


JOHOR BARU: A 40-year-old vacation consultant was charged at a Magistrate's court here with murdering a 46-year-old man at a hotel in Stulang Laut here.

Badril Hisham Abu Mansor, who was clad in a black shirt, nodded to indicate that he understood the charge read to him before Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Alias on Monday.

No plea was recorded.

According to the charge sheet, the accused had allegedly murdered Tan Chai Soon at the sixth floor of the hotel at around 1.15am on Sept 3.

Badril was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

The court then set Oct 12 for mention while waiting for the post-mortem result.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Mohd Nasir prosecuted while Datuk Rosal Azimin Ahmad represented the accused.
