Masked men rob goldsmith at Rawang mall

GOMBAK: A gang of masked men staged a daring heist on a goldsmith at a mall in Rawang in the full view of shoppers. In a video of the incident uploaded on Facebook by a shopper, four masked men wearing helmets are seen inside the outlet.

One of them is seen smashing the display cases using a hammer with the others scooping up the jewellery with their hands.

Another robber is seen holding what is believed to be a gun. A security guard who looked stunned is seen outside the shop, and the voice of a woman is heard pleading for someone to call the police.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad said two customers and four sales assistants were inside the shop when the robbery took place.

“One of the robbers shot at the ceiling but fortunately no one was injured,” he said, adding that the police were looking for a total of six suspects. He said the robbers got away with the loot which had yet to be valued.
