A new era for the Lim family

KUALA LUMPUR: The recent passing of Puan Sri Lee Kim Hua, wife of the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, marks the beginning of a new era for the family, says their son.  

Datuk Lim Chee Wah (pic), one of their six children, also expressed his appreciation to all who had shared their condolences with the family.  

He said that with his mother now laid to rest, the family leadership was in the hands of his brother Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.  

"It is a new era I foresee as he heads the family. He has taken on a very heavy burden," Chee Wah told reporters at the family's residence in Taman Duta here on Tuesday. 

Chee Wah said that his late father settled his financial businesses before he passed away 10 years ago, handing over the leadership of the multi-billion Genting Group to Kok Thay.  

"Ever since, I have admired my brother who has managed and grown the business and my father's legacy," said Chee Wah, adding that he would help his brother any way he could.  

Lee died last Friday at the age of 88.  

A three-day wake was held for her at the family's home from Saturday.  

She was laid to rest at the Goh Tong memorial park on Tuesday morning.
