GEORGE TOWN: Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have lodged reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against two Penang Island City (MBPP) councillors over allegations of abuse of power.
The reports were filed by representatives from Persatuan Kebajikan Surplus Pulau Pinang and Kota at the MACC office in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah here on Monday morning.
Persatuan Kebajikan Surplus Pulau Penang chairman Sophian Mohd Zain alleged that one of the councillors, who was appointed earlier this year, was still staying at a PPR flat in Sungai Penang despite getting an allowance of RM4,000.
On the other councillor, Sophian questioned whether there was any conflict of interest if the councillor of four years was also serving in the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in the south-west district.
Also present was former MBPP councillor Noor Syazwani Md Amin, who was terminated from her post in April.
