PKR rep Norlela blamed for Phee’s arrest

BUKIT MERTAJAM: PKR assemblyman Dr Norlela Ariffin, who questioned the illegal factory two years ago at the state assembly, said she is disappointed she has been blamed for the arrest of DAP state exco member Phee Boon Poh.

“Everybody is scolding me. I feel so down,” she said. Dr Norlela said she was also accused of raising the issue at a time when a general election was due soon.

“I’m not the criminal,” she said yesterday. “I’m glad that action has finally been taken, but don’t treat me like a criminal.”

She said many villagers had complained to her about the factory.

“To me, the issue of the factory operating illegally for the past 10 years is serious. I raised the issue at the state assembly after visiting the factory in 2015, but no action was taken,” she said.
