Johor agrees with Sultan's opinion on RTS track

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state government supports Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar's view on the proposed design of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) rail track, which will link Bukit Chagar here and Woodlands in Singapore.

"We have taken note of Tuanku's views and we support it and will forward the suggestions to Kuala Lumpur (the Federal Government)," said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic).

"The decision to develop the RTS is still being negotiated between the two countries and the fine-tuning of the details of the project are open for discussion," he said.

Mohamed Khaled said this to reporters after launching Aegis Limited's business process management Centre of Excellence (COE) in Medini City here on Tuesday.

It was reported that Sultan Ibrahim welcomed the project but did not agree with the curve-shaped design of the track, as well the plan to build the bridge as high as 30m above water in the middle section.

The Federal Government had announced that the two countries were expected to sign a bilateral agreement for the Rapid Transit System (RTS) project in December, which will improve travel between the Singapore and Johor.
