GEORGE TOWN: Four people including a woman and a teenager have been remanded for six days to allow investigation into the murder of a hotel employee at a flat in Rifle Range.

A magistrate's court here granted the remand until July 4 on the 30-year-old unemployed woman and the three males aged between 15 and 22 on Thursday.

It was reported that the body of M. Sathiwill, 20, was discovered murdered, his hands and legs bound with nylon rope, at about 9.30am on Wednesday. He was wrapped in a bedsheet.

It was believed that the victim had been assaulted earlier by a group of about five people at the corridor outside the unit on the 16th floor.

George Town Deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said initial investigation showed that the victim was beaten with blunt objects before his death.

The victim had rented a room in the flat with his brother about a month ago, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
