Friend of assault victim Nhaveen worried over anonymous calls

GEORGE TOWN: The 19-year-old friend who was assaulted along with 18-year-old student T. Nhaveen has been receiving suspicious calls following the attack.

T. Previin (pic) said that he had received three calls while his aunt also received a call.

"We don't know who the callers are and they claim to be from Kuala Lumpur. They called to say they want to help Nhaveen but we suspect something is not right," said Previin.

Previin told reporters at the Penang Hospital that he is worried after receiving the calls.

Meanwhile, Previin's 57-year-old uncle M.G.R. Devan said the family plans to lodge a police report over the phone calls as they felt threatened.

Previin is scheduled to undergo surgery for a fractured bone under his right eye either on Thursday or Friday.

It was reported on Sunday that Nhaveen was beaten up by a group of teenagers with helmets.

He was found unconscious at a field in Jalan Kaki Bukit in Bukit Gelugor, George Town, Penang.

Nhaveen, who was also sodomised and burnt on his back, suffered internal bleeding in his head and abdomen.

He was seriously injured and taken to the hospital in an unconscious state.

Previin was also attacked but managed to escape.

Police have since arrested five suspects, aged between 16 and 18, over the attack.
