KLUANG: Two people have been detained following an incident where DAP's Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong was harassed by a group of traders at the Ramadan bazaar here on Saturday.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Laham said the two were detained when they surrendered to the police here at about 1.40pm on Sunday.
Police are investigating the incident for causing hurt and for criminal intimidation under the Penal Code.
On his Facebook page, Liew shared a five minute video of the incident which showed people yelling at him and his staff, telling them to leave. They were at the bazaar to distribute dates.
It was reported that Liew was hit on the forehead, causing his glasses to fall, and one of his staff was manhandled during the scuffle.
Liew has lodged a report at the Kluang police station. Two other reports were lodged by others in the party.
