Man allegedly stabs woman for breaking up with him


ALOR SETAR: A 23-year-old woman has allegedly been stabbed multiple times by her boyfriend when she tried to break up with him here on Monday.

Kota Setar district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin said the victim was stabbed at about 7pm Monday after a heated argument between the couple.

The victim has been warded at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital and is in a stable but weakened condition due to excessive bleeding.

"The victim revealed that the 23-year-old suspect from Taman Tedah here became enraged during the argument and used a sharp object to stab her in her stomach three times," he said.

Police are investigating the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect who is now on the run.
