Abandoned baby named Ramadhan

KUANTAN: A newborn baby boy, who was found abandoned in a garbage bin, has been named Muhammad Ramadhan after the holy month.

State Women and Family Development, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Shahaniza Shamsuddin said it could be the blessing of God during the holy month of Ramadan that the baby was still alive.

“Muhammad Ramadhan is healthy and only had a small injury on his head,” she said after visiting the baby at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh yesterday.

The 2.4kg baby was found wrapped in newspapers with his umbilical cord still attached in a garbage bin at a housing estate on Sunday morning.

It is learnt that the baby would be placed under the care of the Welfare Department.
