KOTA KINABALU: Former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal says he never received any funds linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
The Parti Warisan Sabah chief said neither he nor former Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin benefited from donations received by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as alleged by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
Nazri, an Umno supreme council member, claimed on Sunday that he was among recipients of funds from the RM2.6bil donation, but said that Muhyiddin and Shafie received an even bigger portion of the funds.
Shafie, who was speaking after a Warisan gathering at Kimanis near here on Tuesday, said that Nazri's claims were absurd and false.
"As far as I know, Najib never gave me any money from 1MDB," said Shafie, who is also Semporna MP.
He said the only time he had spoken to the Prime Minister about such funding was in relation to helping people to go for umrah.
